I have a short trip here to Solidworks World so doing everything to maximize. That means hitting up each of the events listed on the press agenda for Sunday. First up, the Solidworks 2014 Demo, put on by Ian Hogg, which is hopefully a showcase of the many new features that those beta testers have been working through for the past few months.
Ian noted that this is the 22nd release of Solidworks. There are “hundreds of enhancements” and over 90% of them were submitted by customers. That fits with their goal for 2014, which is to empower Solidworks customers. This is not done just through improving the software, but also improving communications with customers, reducing software overhead and enhancing tools for collaboration.
The actual updates, demoed in the session, are all well documented and available online. Check out “What’s New in 2014”

Next up is the Stratasys product announcement. Solidworks World is an interesting place for Stratasys, one of the leaders in the 3D printing world, to make a new product announcement. It is highly unlikely that a new printer or scanner is slated to be announced, given the market implications such a device would have.
